What to Expect at Burlington Chiropractic

Check-In and Paperwork

Once your appointment is booked, our receptionist will be waiting to welcome you. We ask every new patient to complete paperwork so we can understand your complete health picture. You can save time by downloading your forms in advance from our online forms page.

Your paperwork will ask about your family history, because some health issues can be hereditary (though that does not mean they cannot be improved). It will also cover your daily habits, past injuries, and medical history. The more we know, the more we can help.

Testing and Imaging

Depending on your condition, our doctors may recommend imaging. Most new patients receive digital X-rays so we can see your spine clearly. In many cases, we also use Dynamic Digital Radiography to see your spine in motion and digital spinal nerve testing to measure nerve function. Imaging is generally needed only at the start of care or if your condition changes.

Your Examination

During your exam, you will be asked to move in different ways and possibly lie down so the doctor can assess your posture, range of motion, and areas of tension or tenderness. Be sure to share everything you are experiencing, including pain, numbness, headaches, or other symptoms, even if they seem unrelated.

Reviewing Your Results and Care Plan

After your evaluation, our compassionate chiropractor will explain your findings and discuss your options. Together, you will decide what feels right and create a plan to help you reach your goals. Learn more about our complete evaluation on our Our Process page, or read our Your First Visit guide.

Ongoing Visits

As your care continues, we monitor your progress with objective testing so you can see how your body is responding. Many patients also benefit from corrective exercises and lifestyle advice that support their results between visits.

Why do you ask about my family history?

Some health conditions can be hereditary. Understanding your family history helps our doctors see the full picture and create a more effective care plan.

Will I need X-rays?

Most new patients receive digital X-rays to give our doctors a clear view of the spine. Imaging is typically repeated only if your condition changes.

What should I wear to my visit?

What does the examination involve?

The doctor will assess your posture, movement, and areas of pain. You may be asked to bend, turn, or lie down so the doctor can better understand what is happening.
